The nickel-chromium system shows excellent solubility of chromium in nickel, reaching maximum at 47% at eutectic temperature and about 30% at room temperature. These commercial alloys offer outstanding resistance to high temperature oxidation, corrosion, and good wear resistance.
90% Ni, 10% Cr (Chromel alloy): Used in positive conductors of Type E and K thermocouples, suitable for use up to 1100°C in oxidizing atmospheres.
